Ovechkin Goal

Awesome!

http://scores.espn.go.com/nhl/recap?gameId=290424023

Santana!

I have no idea what the Mets would do without this guy.

I dislike the Phillies no matter what happens.

It's a big weekend, NFL draft, Mets baseball, some golf, who can complain?

Did anyone see Ovechkin's goal tonight? It was seriously unbelievable, that kid is awesome.

I also heard a car accident today while waiting to explain my car woes to the car guy. We ran to the street and two cars were not in good shape, but, a cop was already there. I guess he knew what was about to happen. All were ok, and, I watched one of the drivers wander around with no shoes on for a while. I was thinking, dang, last time I walked around here with no shoes I ended up in a bloody mess getting glass removed from my feet.

Enough of that, happy Friday.

Mets Lose

It's a beautiful day here in San Diego, the kind of day which reminds me why I live here. The Mets today were frustrating, so many runners on base, so little runs. Todd Coffey of the Brewers, very entertaining, sprints in from the dugout, had runners on base for three innings but gave the Brew Crew the win.

Sheffield, dude can still hit, I mean, he is the same age as me, we are in our prime!

John Tavares should, and, hopefully will, be an Islander.

Scary that he was born in 1990, but, the Islander franchise needs this kid, an offensive star. I know the scout say 6'6 Victor Hedman could go number one, but, JT is the pick.

Softball update:

We won 17-16 Thursday to raise our record to 6-3-1. I had one hit in two at bats, now 16-27 on the year, going up the middle more, I guess it is old age which makes us smarter.

Time for a bike ride, no Mets game tomorrow, just work. Patriot day though, Boston Marathon and Red Sox play at 8:30 am west coast time, crazy, eh?

Running a marathon, now, that is impressive.

Swedes score!

5-4, Swedes cut Canadas lead!

Mets-Yankees

Hockey is 5-3, moving on the Mets- Yankees, Johan Santana vs the Yanks.

It's raining in NY, I am already bored.

Today my uncle Robert Hassett was buried, always my favorite. I spoke to him last week, he said everyone he owed money too was showing up, still had the sense of humor he always did, I guess people are who they are, the situaton does not change them.

Sweden-Canada, third period

The Swedes are down by two, it is Friday, Mets and Yankees getting ready for the subway series. I am not a Yankee hater, always loved Craig Nettles and Thurman Munson, but, I often wonder how I root for the wrong team always. The Yankees, the Giants, they win, whether they are supposed to or not. The Mets, Jets? Come on, this is painful! 1986 was my last championship as a fan, sad, eh?

So, it's about 90 degrees here in San Diego, I need to get back to the beach, why live in San Diego and not live at the beach?

World Hockey Championships

After going 3-4 last night in softball, we won 35-3, I spent too much time at Cass Street Bar and Grill and was useless this morning. I missed the Russians win over Finland this morning. Wednesday night, the US was playing Finland, the game was going to OT. I said to Carl, I can pay the 5 bucks for this game but the US will lose as soon as I sign up. Sure enough, I turn the game on and I watch Finland celebrating. My friend Samuli in Finland says the US has not beaten Finland since 1991.

I am watching Sweden-Canada, 2-2 tie right now. Getslaf just scored a sweet goal, the Isles need some guys like him.

I just read in Newsday how Dave Milicki- back to hockey, Jamal Mayers just scored for Canada, 3-2 Canada, I have never heard of Jamal.

OK, here is the Mlicki link, dude was born one day before me, played in the majors, now hangs with his sons and plays golf, very nice.

I am thinking of retiring and composing my blog 24-7, please send me money so I can do this.

Kenny Jonsson still playing for Sweden, though he is out for this game, he was always hurt as an Islander too.

Anton Stralman scores! Tie game!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anton_Stralman

I never heard of this dude before but he has two goals and two penalties tonight.

Rick Nash with a sweet goal, I have heard of him despite the fact that he plays in Columbus, Ohio. 4-3 Canada.

Swedes, no D, Mike Green scores with 7 seconds left in the second. Nice wrister, reminds me of myself.
